The Combat Wombats PATROL Invites All Scouts to
2016 IOCP Sleep Out
November 11-13 , 2016

Registration is now OPEN for the IOCP Sleep Out! This will be a unique opportunity to promote awareness for homelessness. IOCP is a non-profit organization that helps people and families with basic necessities.

This sleepout is going to be tied in with a service project at the Monday (11/14) troop meeting. The scouts will be making tie blankets. Part of the scout registration fee for this event will go towards purchassing supplies for the blankets!

What: IOCP Sleepout, coordinated by the Combat Wombats Patrol
When: November 11-13, 2016
Where: 340 Park St E, Wayzata, MN 55391


Itinerary:
Friday Evening
  • 6:00 p.m.  Meet at WCC to pack/carry items to Klapprich Park
  • 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Set up campsite – we will be sleeping under the dining fly 
  • Friday evening treat:  hot apple cider & cookies at the bonfire

Saturday
  • Flag ceremony
  • Breakfast – cooked oatmeal and apples
  • Saturday morning competition to build cardboard box sleeping structures for Saturday evening
  • Lunch – soup, bread & jam, apples
  • Saturday afternoon activities:  hike to, and at, Woodrill Park (off the Luce Line), each patrol develops and practices their skit or song for the Saturday evening contest
  • Saturday dinner -  hobo stew and cookies
  • Saturday evening activity:  skits, songs, bonfire with treats

Sunday
  • Flag ceremony
  • Breakfast – cold cereal and fruit
  • Cleanup and return items to WCC

Cost: $20/scout; Adults are free

Registration: Registrations are open now and ​close on Monday, November 7!

Other Info: 
  • Meal Responsibilities:  We will be making group meals during this campout.  Each patrol must sign up to either cook or cleanup for a meal.  Signups will be available Monday, November 7 at the Scout meeting.
  • Cardboard boxes for sleeping out Saturday evening:
    * Required for scouts; not required for adults
    * Each scout must obtain and bring their own cardboard box.  Potential places to obtain the boxes are Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc.  Ask to talk to a store manager.
    * Each scout must bring the items they want to use to build out their cardboard box on Saturday – small boxes, tape, any other ornamentation.
  • Class B uniforms are allowed for traveling to this campout.
  • Also, a follow up service project (creating fleece blankets) will be done at the Scout meeting on Monday, November 14.
