Apostle Islands/ Stockton
August 17 - 20, 2006

Thurs Night 8/17 – Chequamegon National Forest – Wanoka Lake
We got in late that night and made Jason our senior patrol leader. This camp was close to Bayfield so could catch the noon ferry.
Fri/Sat 8/18-8/19 – Stockton Island Group Site
Friday we arrived at Stockton and set up camp. That night we cooked chicken on the fire.
Saturday we went on an 8 mile hike to Julian Bay’s beach. Dan took his back pack to finish camping merit badge. We packed in a life raft to go snorkeling on the boat wreak. Most of the boys dove into Lake Superior’s waves. This was Jacob’s favorite time. Shane dug holes in the sand searching China only to find water. At 3:00 we listened to a ranger program on bears. Although we saw lots of signs of bears we were not lucky enough to see one. Both Jake and Nathan got their 10 plants and 10 animals. Back at camp we had Chicken and Dumplings and Apple Dumplings.
Sunday we took a hike to the site of a Brown Stone query. When we got back, we broke camp and went swimming until the ferry arrived at 4:00 pm. Dinner was pizza at a restaurant.
Sunday 8/20 – Amnicon Falls State Park Campground (hike to falls)
Sunday night we camped at a state park close to the Brule river. Monday morning was blue berry pancakes and a swim in the water falls. We arrived back around 4:00pm Monday."
