Scouts Attended NorthWind Adventure Campout (High Adventure) 2007
(Photos M. Morey)
North Winds was no doubt the best trip I had all year. We left WCC on Friday and arrived at North Winds Sterns camp. We got some winter gear and were taught winter survival stuff . We slept in the lodge the first night. Then the next morning we had breakfast, packed and changed into our warm clothes, then we hiked about half a mile to our campsite. When we got to camp we were trying to set up the parachute but we had a little trouble with setting it up. We eventually got it set up after many attempts. We got everything set up and we went on a few hikes, played a few games, had lunch and dinner than went on a night hike. Hiking kept us warm. We then went to bed in the parachute and everyone stayed warm. We had -30 degrees sleeping bags and two ground clothes for warmth. For sleep we wore the wicking layer of clothing, including a hat and gloves. After we had a long nights rest we woke up to pop tarts, hot coco, and oatmeal. Then once we packed it all back up again we headed back up to heritage lodge to return all the winter gear back. We had lasagna for lunch on Sunday. (Billy M.)
