YES All Scouts can go on this trip and climb. NO there are no age limits to climb - beginners are welcome

Where can I find a list of Merit Badge Counselors?
A new listing of Troop Merit Badge Counselors is on the troop website - Home Page under MERIT BADGE OPPORTUNITIES on the right
or under the Advancement Tab under the Merit Badge Counselors list
www.troop283.net

Will Philmont Crew Scouts be able to rock climb as well as hike?
YES Philmont Crew boys will be able to Climb as well as complete their hike.

What type of Backpack should the Philmont Crew Scout bring?
If possible, Scouts should bring the backpack they will bring to Philmont.
If that isn't possible, they should borrow one from someone who went a previous year or from a friend.

The plan is to use backpacks that they will use at Philmont. This is a great time to get all of the straps adjusted and test out a pack.
Scout will fill the with all of their gear (sleeping bag, tent, clothes, etc.) so that they get between 30 and 40 lbs to carry.
At Philmont, we'll have around 40-45 lbs. because we'll have up to 3 days worth of food and fuel to carry along with our gear.
