I began my journey in as a Boy Scout in 2002. Back then I just wanted to be like the older scouts in our troop. As I moved through the ranks, I began to think about the possibility of becoming an Eagle Scout, though I never gave it much more thought then that. But after attending a few Many Point Camps and Eagle Scout Court of Honors, it became my goal. For most scouts the Eagle project seems like a huge undertaking, and it’s not easy by any means, but don’t let it deter you from becoming an Eagle Scout. I first worked on getting all my merit badges out of the way, especially the long ones such as Physical Fitness, or Personal Finance. By taking everything one step at a time, it made the goal more achievable for me. Before I knew it, I was making calls and beginning to plan my Eagle Project. Though there were a few bumps along the road to completion of my project, the hardest part in my eyes was just getting started. So for all the young scouts who may be reading this, don’t be afraid to get started, and most of all don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way. Just because it’s your Eagle Project doesn’t mean that you can’t ask for help from your parents, teachers or other scouts. The path to Eagle has been filled with great memories for me and I hope you can attend Ryan and my Eagle Court of Honor.
