Join the Troop as we go to Tomahawk Scout Reservation in Wisconsin for a throwback weekend of fun and excitement. Learn how to be an original lumberjack, 1893 style . It is a great experience and you WILL have fun! Knapp Stout logging camp, is a historically themed outpost forever stuck in 1893.
Why Winter Camping? Winter Camping is an important part of Scouting, especially if you live in Minnesota or Wisconsin. No need to be afraid of the elements since you'll be quite active and warm with the challenging activity of Draft Horse Logging. We won't be pulling sleighs as big as the picture, but you will learn some basics of how the "old timers" did it.

What: Draft Horse Logging Camp Out
When: January 26 - 28, 2018 Where: Tomahawk Scout Reservation, Birchwood, WI Itinerary: Friday: Meet at WCC at 10:30 to pack gear. Leave around 11:30. We'll stop for lunch on the way. * All drivers - it is IMPORTANT to be there on time, so we can leave promptly after packing Saturday: All sorts of Fun! Sunday: Pack camp. Return to WCC around 5:00 PM Cost: $140 Scout $67 per Adult Items to Bring: Warm clothing including long underwear. Remember: Siempre Listo(Be Prepared)! Reminder: Please wear Class A uniforms when traveling to/from camp outs! Potential Activities: Cutting and hauling logs truly "Old School" with methods from 1893. Quinzees: Learn to build a snow hut and how important this can be for winter survival. Blacksmithing Forge your very own tomahawk. Two-Man Saw Use a two-man saw and take home your very own log cut-off. Branding Choose from a selection of branding irons to make your mark on a log, hat, or hiking boot. Evening Programs After dinner, the legendary Lumberjack campfire. The staff tell tall tales, riddles, and jokes you'll love. Afterwards enjoy some Dutch oven treats. Log Cabin Bunkhouse Stay the night in our 160 year old log cabin bunkhouse. It has room for 4 patrols plus adults. |
